How long is Cooper Kupp out? Ankle injury timeline, return date, latest updates on Rams WR – Sporting News

The Rams suffered two losses against the Cardinals on Sunday, one of which could haunt the team for several weeks.

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp exited Los Angeles’ 27-17 loss to the Cardinals in the fourth quarter, and did not return. Though reports indicate the defending triple crown winner at receiver avoided a worst-case scenario, he could miss some time for the 3-6 Rams with the injury.

Here’s a shot of the injury, which showed Kupp immediately grab his left leg in pain. He later had to be helped off the field to the bench:

With Kupp set to miss time, it’s possible the Rams will be without their top receiver and starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, who missed Sunday’s game in concussion protocol.

With that, The Sporting News looks at Kupp’s injury status ahead of a pivotal stretch run to end the season for the Rams:

How long is Cooper Kupp out?

The Los Angeles Times reported Kupp could be out “several weeks,” citing an anonymous source with knowledge of the situation. That timeline was cleared up a bit on Tuesday, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Kupp will be placed on injured reserve, missing at least the next four games.

Reports from The Athletic and NFL.com indicated that tests performed on Kupp showed he avoided an injury that would keep him out long-term.

However, a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday seemed to confirm that Kupp suffered a high-ankle sprain, with one person saying the prognosis “doesn’t look good.”

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones suffered a similar injury this season, missing Weeks 4-6 as he recovered from the injury.
