UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin confirms intention to stand for re-election – The Athletic

Aleksander Ceferin has confirmed that he intends to stand for election for another term as UEFA president.

Ceferin, 54, has been president of European football’s governing body since 2016, when he took over from Michel Platini.

Ceferin was re-elected to a four-year term in February 2019.

UEFA’s president is elected by the 55 member nations at a UEFA Congress, which each gets one vote.

The Slovenian was vocal in his opposition to the failed Super League project that was proposed by 12 of Europe’s top clubs — all of whom withdrew apart from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.
