EXPORTECH™
ExporTech™ is a national export assistance program that helps companies develop customized plans for growing their level of exports. The effort is a joint effort of Iowa State University’s Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS), the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

“Most Iowa companies want to increase overseas sales but it’s hard to get started if you don’t know where to begin,” said Marc Schneider, CIRAS project manager who runs the Iowa ExporTech™ program. “We form a cohort of four to eight companies per offering that participate in a mix of in-person and virtual sessions. Ultimately, they develop a customized international growth plan.” The program is open to all companies, including those who have started to export as well as those who have not yet ventured into global markets. STREAMLINE TRAVEL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS IN ASIA
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, travel to Asia was curtailed, or even suspended in some circumstances. The restrictions to visas and visa processing became even more complicated. One solution, APEC’s (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s) Business Travel Card (ABTC), helps to streamline the entry process into APEC countries (the U.S. is a transitional member of APEC) and would be ideal for U.S. passport holders with frequent travel to those countries. Successful applicants are issued a five-year ABTC that serves as entry authority and are granted pre-clearance for short-term business trips of up to 60-90 days. Full member ABTC cardholders can make multiple short-term entries to APEC countries without having to make separate visa applications. You can apply for the card by logging in to the U.S. Trusted Traveler Program website.

DOUBLE YOUR INTERNATIONAL FOOD/AG PRODUCTS MARKETING BUDGET
International sales can be an important aspect of growth, and an opportunity to diversify business strategy in an ever-changing landscape. To help support those efforts, the Branded Program can double your international marketing budget. IEDA is a member of Food Export-Midwest, whose mission is to help promote the export of food and agricultural products from its 13 member states throughout the Midwest.

Food Export’s Branded Program was established to enable companies to extend their brand’s reach and promote products internationally by increasing the marketing budget with 50% reimbursement of qualified international marketing expenses, which include areas such as web development, market-compliant packaging, advertising materials, trade show exhibitions and much more. For more information and to guide you through any registration needs, contact Brad Frisvold at brad.frisvold@iowaeda.com.
